Our server and website were subjected to DDoS attacks between 3 August 2018 and 5 August 2018. These DDoS attacks caused service disruptions for some players. Thanks to the server’s Anti-DDoS protection, the port was not saturated and the server therefore continued to run. However, the response time of the Anti-DDoS protection is 40 seconds. During this time, the protection may filter out not only the attack but also some players. (Most likely those who are unwittingly part of a botnet).

We have some ideas on how to eliminate this downtime. And if another DDoS attack occurs, we will put these ideas into practice.

The website was unavailable from 7 August 2018 to 13 August 2018 because the provider of my old hosting service refused to host the site for me. Yes, because of the DDoS attack. I therefore arranged new hosting for the website with Anti-DDoS protection. The website is now running on a newer version of the system, and it was necessary to rework some deprecated elements. It’s possible that I haven’t identified them all, and some things may not yet be working as they should until everything has been found and fixed.
